As
graduation draws near, we recall our experiences in the Health Education
Department. In our gym classes, there
was a relaxation from final, midterm, and unit tests. Remember the
dances and sports we learned daily? Also
remember the minus we
got
for wearing stockings under our socks and talking after the whistle had
blown? However, at times we did get a plus for good posture. Then there
were the Cold, Blue and Red stars and the Famous "66" for not
bringing in a dental note. One thing we will never forget is that
beautiful straight hair after swimming, and the rush to get dressed and
undressed in the locker room. Nor will we forget the social dances with
the boys once a week, when we learned the box step. Finally, remember
extra-curricular clubs and the chevrons and tournament pins that were
presented to us by the Athletic Council? |

ATHLETIC
COUNCIL
All the pleasures we had in the athletic clubs after school could not
have been possible if the Athletic Council weren't present. The A. C.
members gave up their time to teach various sports in the extra-curricular
clubs. Not only did they help after school, but they proved to be real
pals to the Health Education teachers during the periods of the day by
demonstrating sports and helping with class records.
Members of the council could be picked out in every gym class by their
flashy white gym suits. We can be proud of our senior A. C. members this
term because all the officers were elected for two terms (this isn't done
very often). The officers and members are: President, Beverly Trickey;
Vice President, Dolores Peczy; Secretary, Lillian Blaschke; Treasurer,
Theresa Nocerino; and Arlene Cornell, Evangeline Daniels, Roberta Goldman,
Marcia Newell, Joan Rowland, Elaine Sablis, Betty Staton and Dorothea
Volz.
The council couldn't have existed without the cooperation and loyalty
of its faculty advisor, Mrs. Lovett, and the Chairman, Mrs. Singer. Thanks
to both of you and everybody else who helped the Athletic Council
function. |
