NPZ is a joint labor of love
on the part of many individuals working together to unite the two classes that
graduated from Brooklyn's Franklin K. Lane High School in 1953. Our
website has been applauded by alumni and other visitors from around the
world. You are more than welcome
and encouraged to visit our site often to enjoy the nostalgia as NPZ
takes you back to those good old days of 1953.
Virginia
Martin: The
one who got this whole thing going. She found my name on
classmates.com and sent me the following email.
To: "WARREN
DICKMAN"
From: "VIRGINIA MARTIN"
Date: Fri, 23 Jun 2000 13:25:35 -0700 (PDT)
Hi, I figured I would send you a
note, not that you would remember me at all, but I do recognize you and we
all have just about gone a lifetime, with some interesting stories I am
sure. So, if you would like to write to me I would be happy to answer. I
will give you a little history, I am married and have 4 children. 2 boys
and 2 girls. I was lucky. -Ginny
She claims her
daughter, Nancy Palmer, was the instigator:
You know when you
say we started this idea, reunion, actually my
daughter really started it....she put my name in classmates.com, and I didn't
even know what she was really doing or what could have come
about. Funny how things work out, eh? Guess it was meant to
be. -Ginny
Since then, Ginny and I have been emailing back and forth several times a
week. We started comparing notes and sharing our contacts; our list
started growing and we were on our way. It was Ginny who suggested
that we make this a joint reunion with both classes and was instrumental
in getting me the pictures from the June year book.
One of the first
email addresses I passed on to her was that of...
We all owe Madeline
Casillo Mandoa debt of gratitude
for supplying the pages from the June year book. She copied the
pages and mailed them to Ginny, who took them (through the snow) to her
daughter, Nancy Palmer, who scanned them and emailed them in for
publication here.
From
those small beginning we were able to progress to where we are today
though the untiring efforts of certain individuals who came on board with
a desire to help out, including, but not limited to:
Maureen has made what some
would consider the supreme sacrifice for the good of the group. On
3/08/01 she parted with her June yearbook, mailing it off to me for use on
the web. As of 12/22/01 I still have it and am still scanning from
it and working with it. Greater love has no Lane grad than to part
with her yearbook at a time like this.
Besides that she has
been a priceless asset to the reunion effort by taking on the
responsibility of heading up the snail mail committee. Her
overall attitude of cooperation and support are appreciated by all in the
association. BACK

Marie
Passantino
Besides being a major part of
the social committee and also the snail mail committee, Marie is the
sort of person whose caring nature is evident in all she does. When
we learned that one of our classmates was somewhere in a hospital close to
death, Marie not only went in search of her and found her but was a source
of joy to her right up until her death. She then followed up by
representing our graduating class at the funeral. This kind is hard
to come by. BACK TO LIST
Johanna
Giannone
Here again is a loving, caring,
individual who took it upon herself to be instrumental in arranging
mini-reunions as a way for members to get to know one another all over
again. BACK TO LIST
Lew and Susan
Wexler
Since coming on board on
3/06/01 Lew and Susan have been no further than a phone call away for any
who need their help. They are behind the association 110% as
seen by their continual efforts at recruiting new members, their
many contributions to the web, and the moral support and
encouragement that can be invaluable when it comes at just the right time.
BACK TO LIST
Barbara
Rossman
As one of our charter members,
being a part of the association before there was an association, Barbara
has been ready willing and able to take any assignment offered her.
She's an integral part of the association and would be tough to
replace. BACK TO LIST
Louis
Robinson
In the few short months
since Louie joined us he has been instrumental in recruiting dozens of new
members. His willing attitude and social connections are priceless
in an operation such as this. BACK
