After 10 years as a microbiologist, Doris spent 15 years at interior design, a work she still does occasionally. But her main occupation today is running her catering hall and nightclub on Fulton Avenue in Bedford Stuyvesant. Doris has been married to Al Porter since 1959 and is the mother of two sons.
