Lottie Reid Humphries
| After graduating from High School, I attended
City College for two years, and took time off to marry James Humphries in
1956. As a result of this union we produced two daughters,
Patricia and Yvonne. Today we have 2 son-in-laws, and 4
grandchildren. As a result of my work-study program at Lane, where we worked one week and attended school one week, I continued my employment at Gimbels Department Store for 27 years. During this time, I continued my education at Baruch College and earned a Bachelor of Business Education Degree. As a result of this degree I taught business subjects in the NYC Board of Education's Pregnant Teens Program. During my 14 years with this program, I attended Long Island University, acquiring a Masters Degree in Guidance and Counseling. I became a Guidance Counselor, a position I held at Brooklyn's Boys and Girls High School for 6 years. I retired from this position when my husband's firm relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina, where we have resided for the past 17 years. Although Charlotte is our home, we still consider Brooklyn, NY our "home" away from "home". I am looking forward to joining with my old school and classmates of the class of 1953. |
