After Lane, I received a BA from Hobart College and an MBA from Columbia University.  During an undistinguished career in sales/marketing, working for other people, I discovered real estate.  I started part time, buying small apartment buildings in Chicago, having moved here in 1963, rehabbing the apartments, and renting them to young people.  For the last twenty years, I have been doing this full time.
   In January of 1968, I met Sylvia, in February we became engaged, and in April we married.  Now, we are about to become grandparents.  Our son Martin is 30, and is married to Melissa, and our son David, who is 29 is married to Erin.  Both sons are attorneys in Chicago.  David works with me part time and Martin does full time.
   Sylvia retired from teaching French three years ago.  I will never retire.  Sylvia is the motivating force behind our traveling, as I am the one who said, “Let’s get a sailboat,” which we did and sail on Lake Michigan.
