It is with sincerest regrets that we must report that
Stefan Jannace died of cancer in 1973. He was 38 years old.
"He was a short, skinny, bookish kid, one of
the wittiest teens I had the pleasure of knowing in those years, with a
macabre sense of humor who called himself "Thanatopsis" and who
wrote deep, black, rich, obscure poetry. Last time I spoke with him we
were both 19 going on ninety, both working at jobs we disliked and were
bored, bored, BORED with life as we knew it. Had we known what
lay years ahead, we might have behaved very differently. We did lose
touch and I wish we hadn't." -Barbara Rossman
