To
the Class of January, 1953
I feel a
sentimental attachment to you because you are the first complete class
to have arrived at Lane after my appointment as principal in November,
1948. I am very happy, therefore, to have this opportunity to
tell you how glad I am that my first "babies" have
successfully weathered the vicissitudes of high school life and are
now ready for fresh conquests. We have enjoyed your company and we
hope that you have derived lasting pleasure and benefit from your
association with our books, our teachers and our activities. May your
future careers be happy and satisfying. We shall miss you and think of
you often. We trust that you will remember us, too, and that you will
keep us informed of your aspirations, your problems and your progress.
We refuse to consider your physical separation from Lane as good-bye
forever. May this slogan be yours and ours: "Once a Laneite,
always a Laneite."
Cordially yours,
HARRY EISNER
