At six-foot-two Bob is probably best remembered by Laneites for his basketball achievements, but those who Madeline Casillo, Bobby died very young many years ago from cancer. 
     Ginny Martin had this to say: 
"It's getting sadder and sadder with the passing of our classmates...I knew Bobby Oakes.  My girlfriend used to like him and we went to see him play basketball all the time.  He was pretty good at it."
     Ginny then followed up by sending me, through her daughter,  Nancy Palmer (who, by the way, has been a real trouper in helping out by scanning and emailing pictures) clippings of Lane's B-Ball team in action.
