| Finding Frank Hoffberg a year or so ago was one of the
highpoints for me in this reunion effort. Reconnecting with him
yesterday at a restaurant in Pacific Grove, California, was another.
Frank had told me months earlier that a schedule conflict would
probably prevent him from attending the big class reunion, but that he
hoped we could get together on one of his trips north. On March 2nd,
2003 that mini-reunion finally happened, while Frank and Rosie were in
Monterey baby-sitting three of their nine grandchildren. Nell and I found our way to the White House on Lighthouse, in Pacific Grove, ten minutes late for our dinner engagement. As we were being ushered into the dining room I told our hostess that we were there to meet the Hoffbergs.. She said, "Oh, you're here for Frank? We have him upstairs." Then she led us up a dark winding staircase to a very private, very cozy, special dining room where Frank waited with his inamorata of 39 years, Rosie. After a great dinner, enhance by a bottle of Merlot from Frank's wine cellar, we got out the cameras and took a few pictures for the album. -Warren Dickman |
