Went to work soon after graduation from Lane. Started with Burlington Mills, now
Burlington Industries in Manhattan, then Crompton-Richmond, a factoring
house. Moved to New
Jersey early 1954. Started working for McGraw-Hill Publishing Co. in 1956.
NOW
Went into the Army 1961. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you
look at it, never moved off of Fort Dix, N.J. My entire service career was
with Headquarters Company Infantry, but on tdy with Headquarters Company
Personnel Center Overseas Data Processing Office. While I was in the Army,
I married the girl I was dating and had a son the following year. After my
release from Active Duty, I returned to McGraw-Hill and later transferred
to the then Book Company. A short time later, my wife and I were divorced
and I've remained happily single since. When my boss left I took over his
position as Traffic Manager for the Book Company and was responsible for
all inbound and outbound shipments of Book Company products domestically
and internationally. After over 25 years with McGraw-Hill, I left to work
for my old boss in a Publisher's Shipping Association. I was with the
Association for five (5) years until I was offered a position as Traffic
Manager with CTB/McGraw-Hill (a school testing division of McGraw-Hill),
in Monterey, CA. I retired from CTB/McGraw-Hill in 1998. My son is an
Attorney in New Jersey. He and his wife, have one son. I now live in
Salinas, CA and am active in the American Legion where I presently hold
the position of 2nd Vice commander.
